In Memoriam B.R.P. Sr.

Daddy,
It's been a month since we laid
you to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery
on Mother's Day.
This coming Sunday is Father's Day,
and I wanted to dedicate these
next couple of blogs to your memory.
Here are some of the things you
cared about most: me, the girls,
gardening, and flowers.
I hope you enjoy...

I included the photo of me above
because I remembered my
favorite compliment from you
when I was growing up.
Ready for church, you'd always
say, "Ooo-wee, look how sharp!"
Not much has changed...

Okay, so you don't care that much
for Maria, but you have to admit
this is adorable.
She's also taken to looking into
the toilet while I urinate.
No photos of that!

This shot looks so old now.
The tree in the foreground is fully
leaved and almost completely covers
my view of the pool.

Here are the pepper plants you
gave me seeds to start.
I lost them when you died
because I left them on the
patio in the hot sun when
I rushed home after hearing
you were gone...

The photo above and the ones below
are shots of the Brewery District
where I live.
I know you'll never get to see
these places firsthand...

At this point in the series of photos
is the time that you died.
I had not posted the above shots
to a blog yet.
What follows are things that
have happened since May 11th.
I had planned to visit Memorial
Day weekend and spend time
with you and Mama.
After you died, Mama still
wanted me to come home
that weekend. From that
visit, here are a couple of
shots of your favorite people
in the whole world.
Sorry...they're still making
silly faces. :)

This past weekend I visited the
Columbus Park of Roses.
You would have loved this place!
I won't interrupt the rest
of this memoriam with
unnecessary comments.
I would like to point out
that the roses were 95%
bloomed out this year,
and there were hundreds
of varieties, thousands of
plants, and--as you can see--
tens of thousands of blooms...
Love you, Daddy...Goodbye...
